What I Install
Flooring Installation Services in Cedar Rapids
I install LVP, laminate, and hardwood flooring throughout Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, and the surrounding Linn County area — tailored to your home's use, style, and budget. Ranges below are typical installed costs per square foot, material and labor together. Your exact number depends on the room, the subfloor condition, and the product you pick, and I'll give you a firm price after I measure.
LVP Flooring Installation
$4 – $8 / sq ft installed
Luxury vinyl plank is durable, 100% waterproof, and ideal for kitchens, basements, and high-traffic areas. LVP gives you the hardwood look without the maintenance concerns — and it holds up in Iowa winters.
Most PopularHardwood & Engineered Hardwood Installation
$8 – $15 / sq ft installed
Solid and engineered hardwood installed with proper acclimation and expansion gaps. A classic finish that adds lasting value to your home — and can be refinished down the road instead of replaced.
Laminate Flooring Installation
$3 – $6 / sq ft installed
A cost-effective, scratch-resistant option that works great for busy households and rental properties. Click-lock laminate looks sharp, is easy to maintain, and holds up to daily use.
Best ValueIncluded in every install
Floor Replacement & Subfloor Prep
Tear-out and haul-away of your old flooring, plus subfloor assessment and repair before anything new goes down. Squeaks, soft spots, and uneven surfaces are addressed so your new floor performs the way it should.
Transitions & Trim
Clean transitions between rooms, proper threshold installation, and base trim that fits tight to the floor — the finishing details that separate a quality install from a quick one.

The Process
What to Expect From Start to Finish
Every flooring project at Urban Edge follows the same process — clear communication, proper prep, and clean finish work. Here's exactly what happens from your first call to the final walkthrough.
Free Estimate & Walkthrough
I come out, measure the space, assess the subfloor condition, and talk through your material options. You get a clear, itemized estimate — no vague ranges, no hidden add-ons. Most estimates are scheduled within a few days of your call.
Material Selection
I help you pick the right flooring for your space, traffic level, and budget. I also install customer provided materials.
Subfloor Prep
Good flooring starts with a solid, level base. I address squeaks, soft spots, and uneven areas before any material goes down. Skipping this step is the most common reason flooring fails early — we don't skip it.
Installation
I do the install personally — accurate cuts, tight seams, proper expansion gaps, and clean transitions between rooms. Your home is treated with respect throughout: furniture moved carefully, work areas kept clean, and no damage to walls or trim.
Final Walkthrough & Cleanup
When the work is done, we walk through it together. I want you to see every transition, every edge, and every seam before I consider the job complete. Full cleanup is included.
Common Questions
Flooring Installation FAQ
Flooring installation costs in Cedar Rapids depend on material and square footage. LVP runs $3–$7 per square foot installed, hardwood $6–$12, laminate $2–$5, and tile $5–$10. Subfloor prep is priced separately if needed and discussed upfront. Every project gets a clear, itemized estimate before work begins.
LVP (luxury vinyl plank) is the best choice for most Iowa basements. It's 100% waterproof, handles temperature fluctuations well, and holds up to moisture that naturally occurs in below-grade spaces. Hardwood and laminate are not recommended for basements in Iowa's climate.
A single room typically takes one day. A full main floor can take 2–4 days depending on square footage, layout complexity, and subfloor conditions. I give you a realistic timeline before I start and keep you updated throughout.
Often yes — especially for flooring. If you've already purchased material or found something you love, I'll review it for compatibility with your subfloor and confirm the right installation method before I start. Just make sure to have 10% overage ordered for cuts and waste.
Lighter furniture can typically be moved by the homeowner beforehand. I can assist with heavier pieces as needed — just let me know what you're working with when we schedule. The space needs to be clear before install begins so I can work efficiently.
Yes — demo and disposal of existing flooring is included in most projects. This is discussed during the estimate walkthrough so it's priced into your quote upfront, not added as a surprise at the end.
It depends on the room and your lifestyle. LVP is waterproof, lower cost, and easier to maintain — a great fit for kitchens, bathrooms, and homes with kids or pets. Hardwood adds real value, looks premium, and can be refinished over time — best in living rooms and bedrooms where moisture isn't a concern. I'll walk you through both options during your estimate.
