What to Expect From Start to Finish
Every deck and fence project at Urban Edge follows the same process — clear communication, proper prep, and solid finish work. Here's exactly what happens from your first call to the final walkthrough.
Free Estimate & On-Site Assessment
I come out, measure the space, assess the site conditions, and walk through your options. You get a clear, itemized estimate — no vague ranges, no hidden add-ons. Most estimates are scheduled within a few days of your call.
Material Selection
I help you pick the right materials for your project, budget, and how long you want it to last. Composite vs treated lumber, cedar vs pine — I walk you through the tradeoffs so you can make the right call.
Site Prep & Foundation
Good decks and fences start with proper footings and post setting. I dig to the right depth for Iowa frost lines, set posts correctly, and make sure the structural foundation is solid before any boards go on. This is the step that determines whether your project lasts 5 years or 25.
Installation
I do the build personally — level boards, tight spacing, proper hardware, and clean finish details. Your yard is treated with respect throughout: work areas kept tidy daily, no damage to landscaping or existing structures.
Final Walkthrough & Cleanup
When the work is done, we walk through it together. I want you to see every board, every post, and every detail before I consider the job complete. Full cleanup and debris removal is included.
